Barcelona defeats Alaves 3-1 in the 23rd round of La Liga.

Barcelona secured a victory against Alaves with a 3-1 win in the 23rd round of La Liga. The match saw Robert Lewandowski scoring the first goal in the 22nd minute after an assist from Ilkay Gundogan, shifting the momentum in Barcelona’s favor.

The second half saw Joao Cancelo being substituted for the promising Hector Bellerin. Ilkay Gundogan continued the scoring spree for Barcelona, netting the second goal in the 49th minute with an assist from Pedri.

However, Alaves quickly retaliated with a goal from Samuel Chukwueze in the 51st minute, following an assist from Alex Solà. Fábio Roque, the Brazilian striker, replaced Gundogan in the 59th minute and wasted no time, notching the third goal after an assist from Bellerin in the 63rd minute.

Unfortunately, Roque received two yellow cards in quick succession, causing a stir of outrage and protests from the Catalan team. Fermin Lopez subsequently replaced Pedri in the 74th minute, with Enric Martinez and Oriol Romeu coming in for Andreas Christensen and Pau Torres in the 82nd minute.

Barcelona’s victory, their second consecutive win, elevates them to 50 points, temporarily placing them in third position with a 3-point difference from Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid currently leads the table with 57 points and has a game in hand in the current round against Atletico Madrid on Sunday. On the other hand, Alaves remains at 26 points, securing the twelfth position in the La Liga standings.
