A turning point in 20th-century war history is the focus of this fact-based account of the 1942-1943 battle of Stalingrad, one of the bloodiest battles in World War II. Jude Law stars as Vassili, a marksman from the Urals transported to Stalingrad in 1942.
The story follows the intense rivalry between Vassili and Major Koenig, a master German sniper played by Ed Harris. Joseph Fiennes portrays Danilov, a Russian political adversary impressed by Vassili’s skills. Rachel Weisz plays Tanya, a character caught in the conflict between the two snipers.
As the conflict escalates, traps are set, and the sharpshooters face off in a high-stakes showdown. The film also features Bob Hoskins as Nikita Krushchev and Ron Perlman as an aging Russian sniper.
