Film Fallen (1998)
Directed by Gregory Hoblit, Fallen is a blend of police drama and supernatural thriller. Homicide detective John Hobbes (Denzel Washington) narrates, taking the audience back to “the time I almost died.” The film begins at the prison cell of serial killer Edgar Reese (Elias Koteas), who sings the Rolling Stones’ “Time Is on My Side.” After Reese’s execution, Hobbes and his partner find a copycat killer. Drawn into the occult, Hobbes meets theology professor Gretta Milano (Embeth Davidtz) and becomes a suspect himself but continues his search for the truth. Co-producer Dawn Steel passed away around the time of the film’s release.
