Film “Mimic” (1997) is a sci-fi/horror thriller set in Manhattan, with cockroaches spreading a deadly disease. To combat this, entomologist Susan Tyler creates the Judas Breed, a large insect designed to eliminate the disease-carrying roaches.
The Judas bugs, however, adapt and begin reproducing. With a taste for meat and the ability to mimic other creatures, including humans, they pose a new threat to the city. Susan, Peter, and Leonard, a transit employee, work to eradicate the humanoid insects from the subway system before they take over.
Starring Mira Sorvino, Jeremy Northam, Charles S. Dutton, Giancarlo Giannini, Josh Brolin, and F. Murray Abraham, the film is classified as R and falls under the genres of horror, action, adventure, science fiction, and thriller.
