Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)
When plans for a new Star Trek series were shelved, the show’s pilot was turned into a big-budget film starring William Shatner as Admiral Kirk. Kirk takes command of the Enterprise to face a crisis: a planet-sized energy force heading for Earth, which turns out to be the lost NASA probe Voyager. Box office success led to sequels and a TV series revival.
