Film The Great Mouse Detective (1986)

Film “The Great Mouse Detective” (1986) is the first Disney animated feature to heavily use computer technology. It’s based on the book “Basil of Baker Street” by Eve Titus. The story revolves around Basil, a Sherlock Holmes-like mouse who solves crimes with Dr. Dawson.

They are hired by a toymaker’s daughter, kidnapped by the villainous Ratigan. Ratigan plans to make a fake queen to gain power in London. Despite Ratigan’s attempts, Basil and Dawson ultimately defeat him. The film’s use of computer animation helped keep the budget low after the studio’s previous feature, “The Black Cauldron.”

The Great Mouse Detective received a G MPAA rating and falls into genres like action, adventure, mystery, children’s/family, and crime. The talented voice cast includes Vincent Price, known for his iconic role in the film.
